What caused it all.
Since 1765 the people of Boston had been leading protest against the Stamp Act and then toward Townshed Act. Citizens believed that Britain did not have the right to tax them because they didn't elect their representative in parliament. Riots and protest were very common events, even toward tax officials. On 1768 troops arrived under request of Governor Francis Bernard. Purpose of this was to protect government officials against mob attacks, restore order and reinforce collection of taxes. The choice was made to send the troops to Castle Island; three miles away south of Boston but it was too far from where they were needed. Bernard then moved the troops to a empty warehouse in Boston. Citizens felt dishonored by the imposed force of the troops and political activists wanted them and the Townshed taxes removed. From then on tension was rising between Civilians and British soldiers, and what happened on March 5, was not entirely unanticipated.
